We hope the year is tracking well for you. The following updates provide some information to take note of regarding the upcoming competition
2023 Timeline Update
Please note that due to Matariki we have adjusted the timeline in week 2 to make it easier for everyone to attend.
All regional finals will be held at offsite venues nationwide. Please note the Palmerston North event details may have been missing from an earlier skills test timeline that was circulated. We would appreciate you sharing this again with your TM’s.
2023 Regional Final Skills Test Submissions
The submission deadline for the 2023 YPOTY Regional Skills Tests has been extended to FRIDAY 23RD JUNE 2023.
This affects all Platinum, Gold and Silver sponsors who have or are shortly going to make a submission. Please continue to formulate and refine this – we are here to assist with any requirements.
Skills tests are to be a step up with a noticeable increase in difficulty and required knowledge from the branch events. Here’s what we need from you:
FOCUS: We aim to showcase a variety of tests and these should integrate real world scenario’s regarding your products to test competitors knowledge and abilities.
TEST CATEGORIES: General categories we are looking to focus on are speed/accuracy, system construction, diagnostics/problem solving and product/system servicing/knowledge.
DURATION: Tests should be no longer than 10 minutes to fit our event format, including overview time.
MARKING CRITERIA: Please detail this for our marking schedule including time, measurements, test requirements etc.
TECHNICALITY: Tests should be a noticeable step up from your branch skills tests. We need to push contestants technical knowledge relative to your showcased product.
SKILLS TEST HOW TO/SOP: A detailed diagram and/or process of how the test will work (what/how) is required.
We will work with you to ensure these fit into the overall event format so please talk to us if you have any queries.
Do you require a power drill?
Milwaukee have kindly loaned us power tools to use. Please confirm your requirements and we will organise this for your test as required.
Please send your Regional Level Skills Test to daniel.keenan@plumbingworld.co.nz for consideration. This will be reviewed and any refinement recommendations made so we can have this finalised by 31 July 2023.
Once approved please ensure your TM’s bring your test along to the first regional final in Wanaka on 19th Sept 2023. We will be managing all logistics for this part of the competition from the first regional final onwards.
